Film festivals, radio, & college showsThis past month or so has been so much fun. In the beginning of September I performed at The Burbank Int’l Film Festival in Burbank, CA. And right at the end of September I performed at ITSA Film Festival in Sonora, CA. It was a really special night because I performed with my friend, mentor and co-producer of my new album, Pat Olguin on guitar. We had a lot of fun performing stripped down versions of my songs. Then that same weekend we performed at The Iron Door Saloon in Groveland, CA. It was such a cool performance. I played with Pat on guitar again, Mathew Gentry on drums and Steve Koehler on bass. What was really awesome about the performance is that none of us had all played together before. We had a quick run through before the show, but everyone had learned the songs on their own. It was really cool how it all came together and everyone locked in to the songs and just jammed. The crowd at Iron Door was really great too. I loved their energy. The following day we did another acoustic “surprise” show in Sacramento, CA. Again with Pat on guitar. It was really intimate and lot of my friends and family came out to watch and support. It was such a magical evening. There’s no better feeling than playing in your home town. I’m really excited about the next steps in my music career. We’re starting some radio promo to colleges nationwide so I can’t wait to see the college reaction to my music and start setting up some show dates at college campuses. Speaking of playing at college campuses, I just got asked to perform this Friday at a charity event at Mount St. Mary’s College in Los Angeles for a great organization called SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions). I love organizations like this because they encourage positive peer pressure. It’s so important to encourage young people, especially high school and college students to make better decisions about issues like drinking and driving, teen violence (namely bullying), teen suicide and drugs. Any way I can help support that is really dear to my heart because I remember first hand how hard it was being bullied growing up and having to make the tough decisions of not drinking or doing drugs versus being popular. So performing at an event like this is really important to me. Another great thing coming up is next week I’ll be doing an in-studio interview and acoustic performance for the online radio station, Indie100 in Burbank, CA. It’s my first interview like this so I’m really excited! I’ll give the details when I find out the air date. That’s all for now! I’ve been posting a bunch of new pictures and video on my Facebook Fan Page so please “Like” it, share and send me your comments when you get a chance! Self Help EP Available NOW!It’s been a little while since I blogged! So much going on at the moment. I just released my debut album, “Self Help EP” on August 29! It’s available on iTunes, Amazon and pretty much all online retailers. So excited! I’m so thankful to everyone involved. I also shot a video for my song “Girl, Interrupted” with this very talented, film student, Bethany Wilkinson. We came up with a really cool concept that involves some animation so I’m really excited to see how that comes out after post-production. I also filmed some webisodes with Bethany that I’ll be releasing on my website. They’re really going to give more insight into my creative process, my background, how I got into music and just my personality and interests. So be on the look out for that! Throughout this past summer I played out live around LA including a show at Whisky A Go-Go for the LA Music Awards Nomination event for which I’m nominated for two awards. It was a great night and I had so much fun performing! You can check out a video of one of the songs from my set below. Now, the plan is to start promoting my songs to radio which will set me up to start touring next year. I’m also already planning to start recording my full length album this winter so I’m busy writing to prepare for the studio. Much to come! I’ll be better about updating!! xo LZ LA Music Awards nomination! And more shows…It’s been a little while since my last post and so many great things are on the horizon. I had a fun show at a little bar in Burbank. It was really small and intimate. So much fun. A bunch of my friends came out to support (picture below). I also just recently received nominations for two LA Music Awards!! One for Female Vocalist of the Year and the other for Hot A/C Single for my song “Girl, Interrupted”. I received my nomination certificates at their nomination event in March (picture below). I’ll be performing a 4 song set at their second nomination event at Whiskey on June 23. Please come out if you’re in town! Speaking of Whiskey, I’ll be performing a full set there on May 16. Check out my show schedule for more info here: http://www.lazaemusic.com/events. I also have a show at Genghis Cohen coming up this Saturday, April 16! I’m gearing up to release my EP sometime in May! So excited! I’ve been recording and mixing for the past month or so. A couple of the songs may be familiar, but totally revamped and a few new ones that have never been heard before. It’s all coming out so great! I can’t wait to release it and share! And this is just the beginning. I plan on releasing a full length record by the end of the year and work towards doing some festivals and touring. I’m so happy and excited for the future. I’ll share some video from my recording sessions this past month soon!! The GettyI had an amazing day at the Getty yesterday! I’ve always wanted to go and finally took the time to go check it out. I will definitely be going back for more!! I felt like I was up on Mount Olympus and any moment I was going to see some Greek Gods lounging about haha. Next time I’m definitely going for a picnic and I’ll take more pictures! It really is a nice little escape in LA. The weather was beautiful yesterday and the views were so clear! Check out more about The Getty at http://www.getty.edu. 1st Show of 2011!Happy New Year!!! Hope everyone had awesome holidays. I sure did. The holidays are my favorite time of year. I went home up to Sacramento and spent 2 weeks just chillin with my family. Santa was good to me this year and brought me a nifty new gadget – iPad! Love love love it!! I like using it for songwriting on the go. Much more portable than my laptop. Also playing games on it rocks! Every year I look forward to my family’s annual New Years party and this year didn’t disappoint. I love being with my close friends and family. And we’ve had this tradition of every year my dad frying a turkey which we eat at midnight. It is soooooo ridiculously good!! It was a great night! Just how I like to bring in the New Year. 2011 is going to be great…it already is great! I’m so excited about moving forward this year. And what better way to start this year off, but with a show. I hope you guys can make it if you’re in LA. Details below! |
